Originating from St. Etienne in the French department Rhône - Alpes,
HOLY CROSS formed in 2006 have chosen the path of classic, timeless
power metal reaching international standards which they follow with
passion and despise for all trends driven by the music industry.
Their now released debut album „Under the flag“ clearly refreshes the
French heavy metal scene with their all but stereotypically French
sounding compositions. We're talking about songs that reside in the
neighborhood of north American acts such as ICED EARTH, CAGE or JAG
PANZER with a good amount of German metal in the WIZARD vein, some raw,
blood red British steel inspired by JUDAS PRIEST and even influences by
eastern European bands like POKOLGÉP, ARAKAIN and OMEN thrown in for
the good measure, while HOLY CROSS still deliver a powerful heavy sound
and stay memorable with charisma throughout the record.
Musically you get a mixture of hard driving, dry power metal, heroic
pathos and super emotional epic lines, fueled by charismatically vocals
that range from furious growling to anthemia melodies, all of it built
on a base of solid rhythms with playful structures. HOLY CROSS show
this direct, waving, everything over rolling expression that makes you
raise your fists to the sky automatically.
HOLY CROSS are awakening new orthodox powers with their brand of pathos
driven power metal that brings a fresh creative energy to the scene.
May the cold time of the year come; HOLY CROSS will set the
headbangers' hearts ablaze.
