Red Eleven - Round II

Friday, January 09, 2015 - Posted by Lifeforce Records, in Albums, Vidéo

Round II – second album!

It took awhile before things got started, but now RED ELEVEN have a clear vision and a common goal.

Members’ references include well-known acts such as SWALLOW THE SUN, SONS OS AEON, MACHINE MEN, and CODE FOR SILENCE, but this new band is all about rock.

Listening to the songs of the Finns, people often think of ALICE IN CHAINS or FAITH NO MORE. These comparisons are comprehensible, but there is more to RED ELEVEN.

Alternative rock and post-grunge are played alongside lively grooves, hypnotic melodies, and catchy hooklines.

When debut album “Idiot Factory” was released in 2013, the band already existed for four years. However, the project had to develop gently to become a serious band first. In 2012 RED ELEVEN finally started touring and spreading its name in Scandinavia. Nowadays the Finns are known for playing atmospheric, wholistic rock-tunes with a feeling of timelessness. Bands’ LIFEFORCE RECORDS debut 'Round II' consists of twelve new songs, which continue the introduced course. There is progression when it comes to the contrast within the multilayered songwriting. Most of the times RED ELEVEN follow their melodic and compatible path, but there are moments of dosed harshness. First and foremost, the Finns address their view of what groovy, comprehensive rock can be: simply beautiful, yet melancholic to a certain degree

Former/present bands of Red Eleven’s members include names like Machine Men, Swallow the Sun, Code For Silence, Sons Of Aeon, Dark Days Ahead, Plutonium Orange, Manufacturer’s Pride, Dead Cult Diaries, Turta and so on, so there’s plenty of touring and studio experience among the group.

Tracklist:
  • 01.  Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
  • 02.  Second Round
  • 03.  Narrow Mind
  • 04.  Tomorrow's Path
  • 05.  The Turning Point

ON TOUR: Posthum supporting Obituary in Europe (jan 2015)

Friday, January 02, 2015 - Posted by Indie Recordings, in Albums, Vidéo, News

The unique melancholic Norwegian black metallers Posthum to join forces with Obituary, supporting them on tour through Europe in January 2015!

"Going on tour with Obituary and M:pire of Evil is something that we really look forward to! We have never been a band that is comfortable in just one specific genre, and we don`t want to be put in one either. So going on tour with thrash and death bands both makes it more interesting to us, and we think it makes the show more interesting for the audience as well!" - Posthum

Tour dates:

15.01. Essen, Germany - Turock
16.01. Alkmaar, Holland - Victory
17.01. Bremen, Germany - Tivoli
18.01. Prague, Czech Republic - Futurum
19.01. Krakow, Poland - Fabryka
21.01. Budapest, Hungary - Dûrer Kert
22.01. Wien, Austria - Szene
23.01. Innsbruck, Austria - Weekender
24.01. Romagnano, Italy - R & R Arena

Founded in 2004, Posthum is in no way a band that hide themselves in a scene. Nor are they constellation of members you will see in other bands. They`ve carefully created their own unique sound and way of thinking as an isolated band, located in the forests north of Oslo. Their self-titled debut record is highly acclaimed as a hard, but yet atmospheric and beautiful album, with a cold sound and strong arrangements constantly growing on the listener.

Combined with their introvert and honest image they made a distinct impression on the scene. Posthum accomplish what many bands are merely attempting, which is to deliver a work of art that is complete in itself; and it needs to be said that they did this brilliantly” – Metal.de review of “Posthum” 8/10

Having spent five years without even thinking about performing live, they suddenly found themselves on a massive tour across Europe in 2009 to promote their debut record. Invited to join Satyricon and Shining the tour was a huge success inspired the band to do more live-shows.

Their next effort “Lights Out” also received praise from a unified press core: “…the beauty of Lights Out stems from Posthum having their own clear identity and distancing themselves from the ‘true’ Norwegian scene. It’s deeply refreshing” - Metal Hammer UK

This time around, the band breaks the surface with their third album, «The Black Northern Ritual». One would most likely expect something ambient and gloomy from the Norwegian trio, something similar to their more experimental second album «Lights Out». That is though not the case. «The Black Northern Ritual» tears you apart with the opening «Demon Black Skies». Jon`s voice is more aggressive, the guitars more up front and drums has a more thrashy approach than ever before. This new mix is certainly a poisonous blend.

«I really felt the urge to write something powerful and I wanted to follow up on the themes from our debut. I truly think we`ve awakened the true sound of ourselves after a decade as a band» -Jon, vocalist and guitarist

Lyrically, the album is a rebellion against the false and corrupted values in the modern western world, which is so tempting and easy to believe in and follow.

«The lyrics are to me a purifying ritual, an inner journey to keep myself in balance, kind of a safe-place where I never have to escape from. I also seek inspiration from the forever-pure nature, and the frustration on how we blindly let it suffer. Sometimes it`s like the universe speaks to me, then I just write down the lyrics as I listen to the arrangements which flows around inside my head» -Jon, vocalist and guitarist

The talented Kjersti Mortensen once again created the artwork. An upfront album like «The Black Northern Ritual» needed a concrete and hard expression. The skull on the front cover is a classical rebelling symbol, which is perfect for an album filled with aggression, and old school inspired riffing.

«To have George Tanderø mixing the album was an easy choice. We needed a person with not only skills, but also talent and an open mind. George has the worked with a variety of artists spanning from A-ha, Satyricon, Travis to Cat Stevens. We knew he was the person who was up to the task and to get the best out of the songs we had written and recorded. What we got back was nothing else but perfection, groove and just the right sound for the songs» -Morten, drummer.

In support of the new record Posthum is going on tour in Europe supporting the Sognametal tour-package featuring Vreid, Windir and Ulcus. You do not want to miss out on Poshum`s live performance. After their show at Inferno 2013 Metal Hammer Norway concluded, « A modest band by the looks, but the venue was packed and there was a massive cue outside. When they went on stage, we understood why. Rock solid arrangements and a fat groove not common amongst black metal acts. They certainly have something that appeal to more than the regular BM-fanbase, and we understand why. » Metal Hammer Norway
